Fermentations Awards

Fermentations WineMaking AwardsThe best awards that we have are the ones selected by the general public. We have been very fortunate to have been selected multiple times as Toronto's Best by the readers of NOW Magazine, EYE Weekly, and the Beaches-Riverdale Mirror, going back as far as 1995. In fact, we have won so often that NOW Magazine has given us the prestigious Hall Of Fame Award! And they then retired the category!

Rather than listing awards going back to 1993 when we first opened our doors, we will list the awards from the last several years.

Over the years, many of our beers have won awards in competition, including our Jingle Belgian Ale, and our Beer School Bohemian Pilsner, Brown Porter, and Dortmunder.

Our wines are also regularly entered in competitions judged by the Wine Judges Of Canada.

At the 2011 AWO Provincial Championships, Greg, Scott and I walked off with medals for the following:

Late Harvest Apple Wine:merit Zinfandel:bronze Meritage:bronze Vidal:bronze  Honey Lager:bronze Belgian Honey Lavender :silver  Blackberry Porter:silver Swartzbier:silver Double IPA:gold

2010 has been quite the year for us- we have picked up over 15 awards, but there are four we are most proud of.  We have two beers, a Brown Porter, and a Dortmund representing Ontario at the national championships- at the time of writing, we have not yet heard the results.

At the Provincial competition, we scored two bronze medals for a shiraz, and pinot gris, three silvers for a California Chardonnay, Grenache Rose and Zinfandel, along with trhee golds for an Icewine, and 2 beers.

Fermentations WineMakingIn 2007, we took 2 bronze medals (Pinot Noir and a Rhone Blend) 3 silver (Vidal, Baco Noir, and Zinfandel) and one gold (Riesling Ice Wine). The ice wine was to represent Ontario at the Nationals, but did not get submitted on time. There is always next year!

Additionally, in 2007, we were awarded 3 Silver, and 3 Bronze medals in the Greater Toronto Open Competition. This competition pitted amateurs against commercial wines, costing onaverage $20.00 at the LCBO.

Finally in 2007, Charles received his Grand Master Winemaker designation by the Wine Judges of Canada. In 2010, the designation was upgraded to Grand Master Vintner.

Fermentations AwardsIn 2006, we were awarded 4 bronze medals for our Baco Noir, Vidal, Grenache Rose and Apple Cider.

In 2005, we were awarded 3 silver for Vidal, Riesling and Pinot Noir), and 3 bronze medals in the Ontario Provincial Competition. Our Pinot Noir went on to represent Ontario in the National Competition, where it took a bronze medal.
